About

Hello Friends!

Ivory & Dusty Rose Spiral Lariat with TassleBead weaving is a form of meditative art, expression and creativity. I find bead weaving to be a nice change from working on a computer all day.  I love to experiment with unique shapes of beads creating form and texture in weaving.   From everyday casual wear to extravagant bridal pieces, I weave necklaces, bracelets, earrings and accessories.

I also like to create pieces from chainmaille and weave and wrap with wire.

I work primarily without sketches, but I do love to doodle which inspires me to form functional beaded jewelry. Some pieces take several days or months and some take longer until I can visualize its completed form. I weave with crystals, semi-precious stones, pearls and seed beads primarily.

Each piece is crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail and workmanship. I use high quality materials to improve longevity and stability of each piece. I weave in shorter runs of thread for improved strength and tactility.

How May I be of Assistance?

CUSTOM ORDERS

REPAIRING YOUR JEWELRY
My pieces are crafted to withstand normal everyday wear. In the event of an accident (a busted jump ring for example), such small repairs can be made free of charge, when mailed in with a postage paid self addressed envelope. Please contact me with your request for this. If you live locally (Richmond Hill, ON or GTA) small repairs can be performed while you wait and if I’m at a show, I can usually complete it for you to pick up. More on repairs can be found on this page.

PEARL NECKLACES
I also perform knotting and/or re-knotting of pearl necklaces. If you have a strand of pearls that aren’t knotted, consider having this done for 2 reasons:
1) To stop you from losing  precious pearls if the necklace breaks.
2) To prevent adjacent pearls from rubbing against each other which will eventually cause damage to the pearls beautiful nacre/surface.
Knotting should be done with natural silk cord or other fine material, so that it does not affect your pearls. Unfortunately after a few decades (or less) the silk can rot, look dirty and break. Please hold on to your clasp especially if it was designed specifically for your pearls and have it restrung.
I also teach pearl knotting. Private lessons are $75 which includes practice pearls and knotting cord for 3 hours in the comfort of your home. If you prefer real pearl, a materials fee for the pearls is additional.

CARE AND CLEANING METAL JEWELRY
Proper handling when cleaning is essential to a like new appearance. If you are in doubt about cleaning, please contact me. Store your piece in an air-tight container, for example: a zip-lock baggy, and it will look new for years. This stops metals and stones from being scratched AND significantly reduces oxidization which happens to everything that has any amount of copper it in including silver filled and sterling silver pieces. Any items that are Rhodium plated will not tarnish depending on the piece, however, Rhodium plating can still be scratched or worn off.  I recommend you take your fine diamond and gemstone jewelry to a reputable jewelry store on a regular basis to have it inspected for loose stones and cleaning.
